Return-It Unveils Modern Digital Smart Bin on World Environment Day
June 7, 2023
Return-It, a pioneer in innovative recycling solutions, is proud to announce the successful installation and operation of the Digital Smart Bin (DSB), a cutting-edge recycling machine, at The Australian National University (ANU) in the ACT. This unique machine serves as an official Collection Point within the ACT Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), promoting an eco-conscious approach on campus.
The DSB was officially launched on World Environment Day on the 5th June by ANU Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Corporate) and the Minister of City Services, Recycling and Waste Reduction, and Tertiary Education for the ACT Government, Minister Chris Steel.
This project was a testament to persistence and dedicated teamwork – it really showed the truth in the saying that there is no such thing as overnight success. From concept design to prototype construction and overseas shipping amid the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic, the path to this achievement was far from easy. Nevertheless, the Return-It team remained dedicated and determined in our efforts to introduce this one-of-a-kind solution to the recycling industry.
The DSB is not only an advanced recycling solution but also a means to support charitable causes. Donations can be made to charities selected by the ANU team, allowing students, faculty members, and campus visitors to contribute positively to society while helping preserve our environment.
We extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone involved in this project for their unwavering commitment and tenacity. The valuable lessons learned throughout this journey will undoubtedly be instrumental in our future endeavours.
The DSB, currently positioned in a high-traffic location within ANU, has been designed to bring a sleek and modern touch to container recycling. Its features include cutting-edge charopy technology to prevent contamination and a multi-media display for advertising and information dissemination.
We invite anyone interested in this revolutionary recycling solution to get in touch with Laurie Minto at laurie.minto@returnit.com.au.
